Sounds like you have a corrupt operating system and/or all kinds of malware on your computer.
Save any important data to an external source (CD, Flash drive or external HDD) and completely reload your operating system.

I'm referring to my work computer. Other applications load fine, even other Microsoft applications. I have an 80 GB Hard Drive and have 65 GB free. In my Task Manager, under the processes tab, Microsoft Outlook uses around 250,000 K of Mem Usage. I consider myself relatively computer savvy, but outside of a complete hard-drive reformatting, I've done everything I can.
Whenever I get new mail I immediately make a hard copy and delete the mail from my inbox. My Inbox, Sent, Deleted, etc. are all cleaned out on a daily basis, and my Outlook still takes a hellishly long time to load.
Does anyone know what I can do?
My guess is that you may have a corrupt mail profile on your system. I can't recall if Outlook 2000 uses an OST file on the local hard drive or not. You may want to create an alternate email profiles via Control Panel %26gt; Mail and see if using the new profile changes the performance.
Additionally, Outlook may need to be reinstalled.
May be upgrade to latest OUTLOOK version

No it hasn't being redesigned yet and yes they are made of components from allover so the disc errors still happen (it's not better). If you didin't know 360 have a high return rate(33%) and though MS has upgraded the warranty make sure that store will exchange it for you or you will have to ship it back and forth to whatever nearest MS warranty depot is near you. It is a gamble.
Yes the elite is ...well elite compared to the original 360. But does that mean we should have to pay 拢300 for it or 拢130 with a part exchange. I think microsoft left a few details out of the original 360. AKA. XBOX 360 BETA edition. Seems that people baught a trial 360 so microsoft can upgrade it after all the faults and everyone has baught one... great news for people waiting for the PS3 but for me; having paid 拢250 for my original 360 feel that we have been used to test the 360 for flaws in preparation for the PS3.

The Aero effect will work on your hardware but it will definitely slow down your PC, 512 MB of RAM is good for Basic version but you need at least 1 GB of RAM to work properly with Windows Aero interface.
Basically Aero effects need a Direct X 9.0 Compatible Graphic hardware and as per your PC your configuration you have it, you can go for Home premium version after upgrading your RAM to 1 GB.

okay so here's the deal: I got microsoft office 2003 of a 60 day trial on my laptop when I bought it. I bought a CD of office at school because I got a really good deal. I installed it when my free trial went out. Now I have two microsoft offices on my computer: the standard edition and the professional edition. So here's my questions:
1. Will it cause any problems if I uninstall one of them?
2. How can I find out which one is the free trial that expired and which one is my good copy?
Uninstall both, and then reinstall the one you paid for.

there shouldn't be any trouble if you uninstall the one with the trial. i had a trial version of office as well. when it expired it wouldn't let me save or type anything into the office program. so just try that. whichever one won't let you do anything is the trial version, then delete it.

the reason why they don't give everyone new ones is because it's a Repair Center, not a warehouse. they don't always have new consoles.
The refurbs are always tested before they get shipped out. If it's giving you issues, contact xbox support right away.

Yes, it's the temporary file. When you open a file, you're actually opening it in that temporary file to protect the original file from accidental corruption. The autosave data is also contained in that file. It will not go unless you do normal exit from Word, and that is to recover the autosaved data from power failure.

First you would have to locate them. By the time there are found they made their money and are gone to set up another scam at another site. The best defense is education. Teach people about these scams and not to reply to them. The computer industry can send DOS to the servers allowing the scammers to operate, or blacklist and shut down the mail server allowing scams.

Basically you can't fix what you can't find.... Microsoft can't find the problem...First they thought it was heat produced by the processor. Then they thought it was combined heat from the processor and heat created from game disc spin...Now that those two issues have been illiminated as the culprit it appears it is a disfunction on the motherboard itself causing the componants to warp. They still haven't found the cause.

What I think is when a company like Yahoo starts ignoring problems rather than fixing them it's a sign they plan to sell but I don't really like the idea of a company like Microsoft buying them because they like to charge for a person to even chat in a chat room. Plus they themselves have problems they ignore rather than fix. Yahoo has problems in the chat rooms with the sound and also with bots. Then there is the problems with yahoo 360. 360 isn't very user friendly and now can't be used as a profile for some reason. But on the other hand the other company has problems with being able to change your user name in their groups. And wow talk about not being very user friendly on windows live. They have problems too. It boils down to do you want to be charged to chat in a chat room or not?

I accidently deleted my microsoft paint program and now I'm trying to get it back. I've tried just going to the start menu and searching it and typing it in RUN, but either one is working. I heard about another way, by going into the conrol panel, then add/remove programs then clicking the add/remove windows components. I think this way would work but it says that I need the microsoft xp cd-rom. But I don't have one because my labtop came with it already preloaded. Then it tells me that I can have it copied from an alternate location like from a floppy disc or a network server. I don't have it copied to a floppy disc so I clicked 'ok' anyway to see if I could get it through a network server but that didn't work because it says that it needs files from the actual windows xp cd-rom. I need to find a way around this! Could someone please help me!

If you only deleted the shortcut, and not the program itself, you should be able to find it. Run the search function and search for mspaint.exe. On XP, it should be in the windows\system32 folder. You can try to run it by clicking Start %26gt; Run %26gt; Browse. Select My Computer and go to C:\windows\system32 and look for mspaint.exe there.

I'm just wondering why practically all of us made such a big deal out of windows to begin with, when there were many other computer systems that were just as good, if not better than microsoft? This is one of the reasons why microsoft was convicted of monopolizing the computer industry. All manufacturers had to have microsoft software in it and nothing else. They even took out netscape out of every computer in the late 90s. Of course, the bigger you are the more enemies you make and that's the reason windows operating systems contain so many security measures since so many people are trying to break through. I mean if you were a hacker would you try and hack computers with windows vista or mac 10x whatever it is? The answer is obviously Vista. One of the reasons macs are more expensive is because they are manufacture by a lower amount and economies of scale doesn't take place. For microsoft is the other way around I mean why do you think they include a 90 day trial of office 07? It's so that people will buy it in the end and that way they won't look for any other program since office has it all. You don't have to worry about sticking with windows unless you are planning on gaming a lot since you can always erase that pesky Vista and upgrade to linux ubuntu. You do have to handed to microsoft for making an operating system easy to use even for the computer handicap. Also, remember that not everyone wanted to purchase microsoft but since microsoft has such a high share in the computer os industry(around 90 percent) they have the upper hand but I wouldn't worry about them keeping it for long.

Ok here is my question... We bought a brand new 360 in December 2007, it's now April and we just got the Red Ring of Death after 4 months of playing it. A bunch of other people that we know that got theirs at the same store around the same time have had the RROD in the last month or so too. Microsoft has know all of this time that they have the RROD issue, yet they still continue to sell 360's with bad chipsets. Knowing this their fix is to extend the warranty for 3 years on boxes that get the RROD, 1, 2, 3+ times.
So I am wondering, when do you think that someone is going to get mad enough or fed up enough with the RROD issues to file a class action lawsuit against Microsoft for knowingly selling faulty 360's? I am thinking that the time is eventually getting here because sure, they may fix it once it happens, but what about all of the lost time for owner and sending a used replacement back instead of a new one for your original 360?

I have the Acer Aspire tower, with the Microsoft Vista Home Premium Operating system. Can I download a trial version of the Microsoft Word 2007, even if the system didn't come with word, or any other programs? It only came with basic Notepad %26 Wordpad. And, is there more to Wordpad- theres no spelling check, justify text....I didn't know if I was suppose to activate something? I just activated my Microsoft Product Key. I have the same problem with vista.I think that the version that we have is a trail version that will expire is 60 to 90 days. You can go to downloads .com to get the software that you need,however you will still need to upgrade your system at some point if you use ms word regularly. by you having home premium you should have word 2007 as a permanent program.

I'm a PC user, always have been. I've grown up with the different flavors and versions of windows and to date we have just made the switch to Windows XP. I've tried Ubuntu but I just didn't like how developer and complicated it was to work with compared to Windows.

Outlook is part of Microsoft Office. It is a full blown contact program with calendar and email. There is no need to use it unless you need all of its features (and it is expensive). You should have Outlook Express on your computer which is just an email program.
In either case if you are asking how to read Yahoo email in them you need the premium version of Yahoo mail which has a monthly charge.

You can only use outlook for paid email addresses. So if you pay for email then yes you can use outlook to send/receive. You have to start outlook to show unread mail unless you put outlook.exe in your startup folder or have a startup script.

I bought a new computer about 4 months ago. It came with a trial of Microsoft 2003. Now it is saying that my free trial has expired and that I must purchase the full product. 1. Download OpenOffice.org! It is a free office suite similar to microsoft office, but open source and free. You can open Word files with Writer. Go to this link and download: openoffice.org. (don't worry, this is a clean program, so spyware or anything)

It sounds like it's having difficulty with your POP3 parameters. Assuming you're connecting to your mail server via POP3. Something isn't right here... In many instances, when setting up mail via Outlook, you have the choice to click on a ''Test Settings'' button - which tests your POP3 and SMTP settings. We have a Microsoft Windows 2000 Server environment with approximately 8 Windows 2000 servers and 80 workstations.
We are not running Active Directory or any domain based policies. Its a simple network really. We currently use Outlook 2003 with POP3 email that is hosted by our ISP.
We want to deploy Microsoft Exchange server so that Outlook 2003 can use more advanced features like calendaring, etc. We need to also have Outlook Web Access.
Do we need to convert to active directory, or can I do this without having to convert right now?

You must have active directory to use exchange server 2000 or 2003. It is not very difficult to install active directory especially if you don't plan to use group policies but if you do decide to deploy it I would recommend using a 2003 server as the domain controller as there are many improvements to active directory from 2000.

Click 'Start' %26gt; All Programs %26gt; Accessories %26gt; Windows Explorer %26gt; My Computer %26gt; Local Disc (C:) %26gt; Program Files %26gt;Microsoft Office and look for the exe file for word and right click it and choose 'send to desktop-add shortcut'
Here's how:
1. In Windows Explorer (My Computer), navigate to the C:\Program Files folder.
2. Search for files with the name ''winword.exe''.
3. When you find it (should be only one), right-click on it and select Create Shortcut.
4. Drag the new shortcut to the desktop.
That should do it.

you cant access it because you deleted it. Reinstall it, and you'll be able to open up your word documents.
You could also use your search engine on your computer to find microsoft word and when you find one of the icons just make a shortcut on your desktop or move it to your startfile.

WM6 has a ton of functionality that the iPhone can barely touch.
Media Center is 10X than Apple TV/Front Row, with it's very intuitive UI, DVR functioning, and it just works.
WMP 11 is the best media management program there is. Beautiful UI, great rip/burn functions, and a bazillion skins, codecs, and tons of stuff.
Windows Vista works great on my Sony Vaio, since I bought it weeks ago. It runs super fast, offers everything OS X Tiger has plus support and more, and it just works.
Live Search 2.0 also has way improved relevancy and offers better search styles than Google.

Okay, so my Office 2007 disc has a problem. When I put it into my drive, it won't run or setup. I right clicked and hit open. It brought up a list of files. I clicked on Office12 and under there was a Word 2007 icon. I clicked on that. It said that I needed to install the program properly, which the disc wouldn't do in the first place. I copied and pasted the contents of the disc onto my hard drive and tried again. No luck.
How can I setup Office 2007 without running the default setup utility? Which file/folder would that be under?
*Returning is not an option. I went to refund the disc at the store I bought it at, they said that it was Microsoft's problem and not theirs. Customer service from Microsoft wasn't helpful either.
Look for a file called 'autorun' and double click it. IT should open in notepad, and this will tell you where the installer is located. Alternatively, you could check for files with an extension of .msi

My husband was too damn cheap to buy Microsoft Office 2007 with our new Dell computer, I guess he thought since we had older versions of it, we might as well as save a lil' money on programs we already had.
Well, he installed Microsoft Office 97 onto Vista and when I asked him to remove it, he couldn't. On the control panel, it requested that the Office diskette be inserted to complete unistall. Although he did insert the disk, it wouldn't be recognized.
Well, he remembered that we had a 2002 version of Microsoft Office %26 assumed that by installing it, it would just replace the '97 version.
Well, now some of these programs (outlook, excel, access) won't work but some will (word, task launcher, powerpoint).
Please someone, how do I unistall these programs? It just won't recognized the CD's to uninstall it...and I've already tried to restore it.

If it didn't finish installing it may not be in the uninstaller,
Go to Control Panel, and under programs select uninstall a program and see if they are listed in the list. If they are uninstall them from there.

All of my life I have been a PC user. I haven't changed to Mac because they're very expensive, and they are incompatible with my life (my family's computers, my schools computers, etc.). Anyway, I have recently discovered all the benefits of the Macs. I started discovering them before Windows Vista was released. Despite, I moved to Windows Vista as soon as it came out to the market just to have the most 'recent' OS.
When I started realizing that it was incompatible, useless and not that much of pretty, I also realized that it had stolen a lot of things from Apple. Yet, I'm not a Mac user, so I can't say what did Microsoft EXACTLY stole.
That's why I want to ask this: What did Microsoft stole (EXACTLY) from Apple's Mac OS to make Windows Vista? For example, they stole the Finder and included it on the Start Menu. Anyway, you say me...

Actually, Microsoft didn't steal anything but they did copied something on Mac OS X. These are the features that they copied from Mac OS X.

I was just wondering, does the Nintendo Wii have better graphics than the original Microsoft X-Box (not the Microsoft XBox 360)? I know that the Sony Playstation 3 has better graphics than the Microsoft XBox 360, and the Microsoft XBox 360 has better graphics than the Nintendo Wii, but does the Nintendo Wii at least have better graphics than the original Microsoft X-Box?
Comparing the games that have the best graphics, in both consoles, I saw that the Nintendo Wii barely had better graphics, but I could be wrong. If the Nintendo Wii has worse graphics, that would be the first 7th generation console to have worse graphics, than a 6th generation console, and that would be extremely sad. Hopefully, that is not the case...

3- ''Borrow'' someone else's installation disks.
Simple things first - check your ''Recycle Bin'' on the desktop. If it's there, merely restore it.
If you have deleted it from here, you have no choice but to reinstall the program.
Check the CDs that came with your computer for a restore type utility and run it.
Use the recovery or repair disc that came with your system. If you have an option, choose repair over installing the entire OS or the intire office suite. No repair disc? no original discs? Better go to cnet for a free processing program. If your machine is still under warranty, you can get a new copy from the PC manufacturer. Otherwise, you are screwed. Always make backup discs!!

Mac pulls the same dirty tactics as Microsoft and still has a good reputation. Why are all of their sleazy methods being overlooked?
One example is that you are forced to use iTunes with an iPod and there is no balance control on the device for the left and right speakers with all of its wonderful technology. Also, If you want to change the battery you have to gut it open making it susceptible to damage. You also can't copy music from it onto your computer unless you use a third-party program.
Another issue I have is how the new operating system Leopard is designed to only run on a Mac even though it is more than possible to run on a PC. In order to run it I have to buy an ungodly expensive Mac computer.
Third is the iPhone. You can only use it on the phone network they allow unless you hack the device.
And I'm sure there are many other things that can be added to the list.
So why do they still have a good reputation when they use the same tactics as Microsoft?

Yes - if you have 03 Professional installed fully - I would just un-install the 2000 version completely.
Copy/Save any important Office type doc's you have to an external source first. It probably wont delete - but strange things happen sometimes. Better safe, then sorry.
I have a program that I have used since 2004. It is Windows based, upgraded from a doss program. I recently installed Microsoft Office 2003 and my sort programs has messed up in my other program. How could this be? This computer can't have a virus because it's not connected to the internet and noone accesses it but me. The only thing that could have happened is with the Microsoft Office.
Microsoft Office may not have directly upset your programs but the amount of information based on your hard drive may be the problem. Be sure before you install and download new programs you have enough hard drive space to store and enough memory to run many programs at once.
It may have downloaded newer drivers that your software does not recognize.
I'm using Microsoft XP Pro. When I try to open my Office 2003, I get a ''preparing to install...'', then ''Please wait while Microsoft configures.......'', then it asks me to insert the microsoft word CD (which I don't have with me). But if I click ''cancel'', Word opens up fine. How do I get rid of that message?
One of the options during the installation process is to not install all the features, but install them as you need them - which will trigger the message you are getting.
You will need the original CD's to insert the next time you get that message - which will also stop the message from happening again, or to reinstall Office.
Suggest you reinstall Office/Word and make sure you select the options to install most everything - it has a funny description about ''run from disk'' or something like that. It's been a couple of years since I did an install.

Part of the reason MSFT isn't releasing the Zune to Europe, is because of something with the European Union, (who in my opinion, has some vendetta against them), and they have to wait for awhile to launch it there. I really hope you and your boyfriend have some luck with the Zune. MSFT should launch the Zune some more in other countries during 2007.
I don't think it has to do with the location, the update is needed for the driver/software, so it may be needed in the US or anywhere else, therefore an administrator account is necessary to upgrade it as you say... . He can upgrade it using an admin account of windows... . Hope it works. I've got a Creative Zen V Plus, I really love it! ;)
I wanted to delete Microsoft Office 2007 trial because I cannot use them anymore, and are just using space. When I go to Add/Remove, it shows like 15 things about the Microsoft office programs, and the uninstall for them takes so long. Is there a way to delete Microsoft Office 2007 Trial as a whole?
The setup.exe file should prompt you to choose weather to remove or to modify the installation when you try to install it again. Choose remove!

Not necessarily. I've seen the Zune stocked by Costco and Wal-Mart as well as Gamestop. It may just be that people are looking for them at other retailers and don't realize that the game stores also carry them, so the game stores still have them when other retailers are sold out.
Here is the deal with zune. You can wirelessly share video and music and yes you can easily hack it. When sending a bought music file, rename the ending from .mp3 to anything like .xxx before you send it. Then the new owner can just change it back.
IPOD tends to be the most expensive MP3 player out there and supposably has a horrid copy protection scheme.

The nerds have it becuase it is cool and different. They always have to be up to date with their electronics. Me and my friend have zunes but we are not nerds.
People are always saying that Microsoft / Windows is always having problems and is a waste of money, yet most people have have Microsoft and Windows programs. I have heard people say that Macs are better, but I have noticed that computer games and programs always come out at a later date for macs, and microsofts get them first. So why does everyone think Microsoft and Windows is so bad? I have had lot's of problems with windows and it does some weird things, but people with macs must get problems too?
Example: The other night I'm doing my taxes online, half way through Internet Explorer crashes for no reason what so ever. I wasn't on any other website or had any other program running in the background.
I don't hate Windows but it does aggrevate me often enough. You can tell the operating system is bloated and with Vista's new requirements just proves that. Microsoft has a want to keep legacy programs and peripherals around (older stuff) and to keep it compatible it must encode Windows for that. This is also what has brought security issues upon Windows.
The Mac isn't full proof, I've had mine for over a month now and enjoy using it more than I do a PC. I've yet to have it crash and have only had one instance of a program freezing up.
As for the games go you have to realize that most computers use Windows still and therefore game makers will make more money from PC users since its the larger market.

Zune is its own format. The only way to convert the music you bought on iTunes is by going through a conversion process that's a giant pain in the butt. Basically, you have to burn everything to CD and then re-import it to Zune. Personally, I don't understand why anyone would by Zune. There doesn't seem to be any advantage. No matter what player you get you should just buy all your music from the Amazon store. Everything is in mp3 so it will be compatible with any player you buy in the future, there will be no laborious conversion issues and you won't be limited by any pesky DRM.

No. Any music bought from any service outside Zune Marketplace cannot be transferred on the Zune. One thing you can try is to burn all that music onto a disc, then rip it, then put it in the Zune.

Microsoft has downloaded K B 931764 'Updated Junk email filter', but it fails to install. As it goes I am not particullary bothered about this as I am well protected by other means. The problem is I can't get rid of the download or the annoying yellow shield icon on my task bar. Can any help? To get rid of the yellow shield...uncheck that update from the download..and press okay..or wtva button is there to continue. A dialouge box will appear saying 'are you sure you don't want to download' or something like that. below that there'll be a checkbox saying 'don't notify me about this update again'...chck that and continue. I thnk that shd solve it.

I've seen this too from time-to-time and I let it continue. I don' tthink it's uninstalling but upgrading--as when your get a Microsoft Update against Office. Let it finish.
Have downloaded windows live messenger, 8.1(don`t know whether that matters). when i try to connect through netmeeting to load the microsoft internet directory it says ''The directory server couldnot be found,you may not be connected to the network..etc i`ve only got microsoft internet directory.I`m with orange..if that helps....pc is just about to go out the window....

Our office was limited on Microsoft Office. Only certain computers had it. They recently put Open Office on the other computers. I do not like it either. Apparently the licensing is cheaper. It's okay to read the Microsoft Office documents but I don't care for it. I'm glad I have one of the Microsoft Office computers. : )

I've been a *nix user now for several years, and am still appalled by the lack of interest in it. What is it about Microsoft that makes it sooo appealing. Crashes, backdoors, packages and programs that you constantly have to upgrade. I just don't get it. I love playing with Linux. Linux has probs that if warned about would scare off potential converts. I haven't put it on a laptop yet. You know why. Do I see Linux as a viable competietor to MS? In the desktop market? Nope. Why!? People resist change, except in measure, and even then it must be familiar. MS is a name brand, like Wrangler is to blue jeans. What is Linux? I bought Vista Ultimate 64-bit a while back. I installed SP1 yesterday. So 鈥渕y鈥?Vista says I changed my hardware and it requires activation. I didn鈥檛, of course, but presumably it stupidly changed the device drivers and so it thinks I did. It gives me 2 days to reactivate. I locate my key. Type it all in. Microsoft tells me it's already in use. No kidding, it's me! I call the support number. Type in the horrendously long number provide by 鈥渕y鈥?Vista. Auto attendant tells me it's no good. I wait 30 minutes for a real person. I read said long number again. I get equally-horrendously long activation code. Type that all in. It's activated again. Wasted well over an hour. Thanks Microsoft. As a software/product developer, I'm all for anti-piracy, but this is horrible. Horrible! As a (current but re-evaluating) avid Microsoft supporter, how can I defend against this crap?
I'm kinda amazed that you even got SP1 to load and function. It's trashing chip set drivers all over the world.
Now, to answer your question, There isn't much you can do about Microsoft and it's ''anti pirating'' software. We are just going to have to put up with it. I think the only real solution to this would be to run Linux instead. But then there is the learning curve. It's just a big mess. I to have been a MS supporter, but, like you, I'm starting to have second thoughts. And, I'm really interested in seeing Ubuntu's next release. If it any easier to use, I my be switching. This Vista thing is just about the last straw.
I have a legitimate copy of Windows XP and Microsoft Office 2003. It has worked well for years, and then a few months ago, the programs started crashing for no reason at all, just a few seconds after launch. Microsoft Word, Excel, and Frontpage are all affected. There are no error messages, the programs simply open for a few seconds, and then vanish from my desktop. Can anyone help me out? If you need more information, just ask and I will try to comply. Go to add/remove programs, click office 2003, click change, and then choose reinstall or repair. It should fix your problem. It may opt for the installation disc and if you have it, your problem should be solved.
